I recently read the following statement made by Mary J. Blige to a reporter on being a born again Christian:

“He wants me to be the hottest thing on the block.

“I don’t know what kind of God the rest of y’all are serving, but the God I serve says, ‘Mary, you need to be the hottest thing this year, and I’m gonna make sure you’re doing that.’”

I knew this comment would not sit well with Black folk, and if the response to her comments on my forum are any indication, I was correct.

I knew Black people wouldn’t be feeling Mary’s comments mainly because we have been conditioned by the [tag]Black Church[/tag] to believe that poverty makes us special in the eyes of God.The church is always talking about God loving the poor and cherishing the poor, and though I do believe that, I do not believe a loving and caring God would want his people to live in poverty.

Ever watch white Preachers on TV? How often do they mention poverty or [tag]God[/tag] loving the poor? I’ve never heard it.White Preachers are always talking “Prosperity” and “Blessings”.Black churches are always talking survival and just hanging on from one po azz moment to the next.

The first year my son started school I noticed a very odd thing about the way in which he was being taught math and I knew it would be difficult for him and most children to learn with the method the teachers were using.

As it turns out the NYC School System uses a so called advanced system of teaching mathematics known as Chicago Math.I say so called advanced because in my opinion there is nothing advanced about it.Rather, Chicago Math is a system of teaching children math in such a way that it is almost guaranteed to frustrate both parents, teachers and the poor students who are forced to endure it.

I have seriously been contemplating changing the name of this blog as I feel that Blackhoney does not accurately reflect me or the tone of this site.

This site was kinda just thrown together so I never really thought about the name too much.Originally it was a sub-domain of the forum but after having bandwidth issues I decided to move it to another server and use one of the many domain names I owned.Just by chance I used blackhoney.us and that basically is how the blog got it’s name.

A few weeks ago I contacted Dell because my my computer was acting up and the mouse wouldn’t work.After much time and effort, Dell decided the best they could do was send out another mouse.Dell will usually tell you that your product will be delivered within 2-4 weeks but having dealt with them for almost 4 years, I know that chances are your product will be at your door within 2 days.I love this about Dell and I guess that a few other reasons is why I stick with them.
