A few weeks ago I contacted Dell because my my computer was acting up and the mouse wouldn’t work. After much time and effort, Dell decided the best they could do was send out another mouse.Dell will usually tell you that your product will be delivered within 2-4 weeks but having dealt with them for almost 4 years, I know that chances are your product will be at your door within 2 days.I love this about Dell and I guess that a few other reasons is why I stick with them.
About a week later while checking my mail I get a bill from [tag]Dell[/tag] in the amount of $6.76… the cost of the mouse. This was standard with Dell.If they send you a replacement for a broken part you must send them the broken part back or they will bill you.Realizing it was taking longer than usual to get my package, I went online to DHL to track my package.Lo and behold they said my package had been delivered to a doorman or apartment manager, neither of which exists in my building. So I inform DHL of the mistake but ultimately they claim there is nothing they can do.I then call Dell who says they will send out the package again using DHL.I plead with them not to use this company but basically DHL is the service they use so there is nothing I can do.
Again, after not recieveing my package for over a week I go to the DHL website to track my package and it says they attempted delivery twice with no luck.I then call DHL and they further add that the driver tells them my address does not exist.Naturally this isn’t true, I verify my address and they again promise delivery the next day.The next day comes and goes with no package from DHL but lots of apologies and more promises of the packages forthcoming delivery to me.
Now here we are Monday and I decide to call first thing in the morning to make sure my package will be delivered today.I am assured by a woman named Bernice that I will have my package and well that was that.So I wait all day for my package and around 3:30 I decide to go back online to check the status of my delivery and sure enough, it says it has been delivered.
Now I am absolutely livid because it isn’t just about a six dollar mouse. It is the principal of the whole thing. Not to mention, I order from Dell all the time and if they are going to continue to use this company to ship their products then I will just have to find someone else to deal with besides them.
Anyway, I call DHL and give them a piece of my mind.Naturally I am given more aplogies and this time lies to boot.I asked to speak with a supervisor who I could tell was lying to me when he claimed his driver told him he delivered the package to a woman who was opening the door so he just left the package there.Have you ever heard anything so effing stupid in your life? Why would he just leave the package and walk away? Doesn’t common sense and company pilicy dictate that he get a signature?
I then decide to call Dell, not to get another mouse, but to complain and give them a piece of my mind as well.A customer service agent pleads with me to hold on and they will make it up to me.She telle me to hold for a supervisor who wants to speak to me.While holding DHL calls and I switch over to talk to them and basically listen to more of their excuses.I tell them I won’t ever use their company and promptly switch back over to Dell, only to find out I have been disconnected.
I then call back and again a customer service agent says they insist on reshipping the product and will use a different company. So I agree and am put on hold for almost an hour. Why I held on was beyond me.The cs agent kept coming back asking me to hold an extra 2 minutes. He did that at least 4 or 5 times before he comes back and requests a different shipping address of which I do not plan to give them or have.I don’t want anything of mine shipped anywhere except to my front door, that way if something goes wrong as it did in this case I can firmly state that the problem was not caused on my end.
So to tie this all up, I have no new mouse and will of course be purchasing a new optical mouse like I usually do every 3-6 months.Dell will probably never ship anything to me again as they may think I am a thief.DHL walks away scott free and not giving a damn because they still got paid by Dell for work they never did.And let’s not forget that somebody out there has two brand new mouses from Dell.
When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight… dont’ use DHL.
Update: I decided to do a search of DHL using the term “DHL Complaints” and lookie lookie what popped up. DHL Sucks!
And for those of you who think I actually sat around mouseless for nearly three weeks you are incorrect.I have a cordless mouse I always keep as a backup.I hate that mouse though and indeed wanted the new more up to date mouse Dell wanted to send me.

Well I won’t say they all suck.I have never had any problem with UPS or FedEx.Never before DHL have I just never gotten a package before. This company is definitely unusual and more than likely criminal. Those damn DHL drivers probably using my mouse right now
Anyway, as long as Dell continue to use DHL I won’t be purchasing anymore products from them.

I had this happen with FEDEX once but not twice.I hear DHL uses secondhand delivery people so that may be the problem.Anyone can apply to deliver their packages using the DHL name with no accountability at all.If a package is lost or stolen DHL does nothing because they are actually covered from liabilty.
