I’m On My Summer Vacation

That’s right folks.School officially ended for NYC children on 6/28 and their summer vacation equals my summer vacation.Last year the summer flew by and all my plans I had put in place never came to fruition.I have sworn not to let that happen this summer and thus I intend to be very busy.My time online will be even more limited than it is now, but hopefully when I return I will have plenty to talk about.

Peace…

Before Janet There Was Whitney

Whitney Houston Anyone who knows me knows that I am a Janet Jackson fan and have been for many years now. What many do not know is that before I was a fan of Janet the singer, I was a fan of the one and only Whitney Hosuton. Now, don’t get me wrong, I still love Whitney, but the Whitney that mesmerized me so many years ago has long since vanished, but thanks to the magic of You Tube, I can now go back in time and enjoy the voice of a woman who first had me singing into my hairbrush standing in front of my mirror in the bathroom.

Browsing You Tube turns up a whole vault of old Whitney Houston performances I either hadn’t seen in years, or seen at all.As I was sitting here tonight marveling at how beautiful and graceful Whitney used to be, I decided to share two of my favorite Whitney clips I found.

Pregnant At The Prom

I am one of those people who really has to have something that moves me in order to write, and the picture Click the image to enlarge. you all see to the left, has put me in such a mood.

For sometime now I have been thinking about Black women and the role we play in the overall poverty levels in our neighborhoods.I have come to believe that the greatest thing the Black woman can do to stem the rise of poverty, crime and a whole host of other ills, is to simply not have children until she is married and can afford them.Let’s face it, bringing children into the world without a pot piss in or a window to throw it out of, is not only stupid, but unfair to the child.

Jamie Fox and Gabrielle Union:My Theory

Jamie Foxx/Gabrielle UnionA few weeks ago pictures of Jamie Fox hanging out with actress Gabrielle Union were being heavily discussed on many Black forums online. Now, when I say heavily discussed, I mean heavily discussed.I’m talking 10 pages worth of dialogue about what many thought was the new hot Black celebrity couple. What really caught my attention during many of these discussions was how incredibly happy Black women seemed to be that Jamie and Gabby were together.Remarks such as “They complement each other so well” may have seemed like a simple enough statement, but for me, I knew exactly what Black women were really thinking and really saying with such a remark.
